LSSC (Central Zone) Sufi Singing (Solo) Competition

Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, Ludhiana organized Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (Central Zone) Sufi Singing (Solo) Competition in Sh. Ram Labhaya Rudhra Auditorium at Green Land Sen. Sec. Public School, Jalandhar Bye-Pass. Dr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman cum Director of Chain of Green Land Schools graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of this competition. Dr. Shabad Rudhra, President of the trust, Mrs. Usha Rudhra, General Secretary of the Trust and Dr. Vijayata, Director of Green Land Schools were the guests of honour. They were given a warm floral welcome by the Principals of all Green Land Schools- Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, Mrs.Vinita Sanan, Dr. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, Mrs. Ritu, Mrs. Aruna Kapila. The event commenced with the lightening sacred lamp followed by musical performance dedicated to Almighty to seek His choicest blessings. This gave a pious beginning to the show.

The competition witnessed an extensive array of participation from 15 teams of various schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). A healthy competition was witnessed with great fervor and zeal. Each participant expressed his mastery over Tone & Pitch, Rhythm & Enunciation, Variation & Cohesiveness and other important aspects of singing. Their best attires added festive shades to the competitive spirit.

The whole atmosphere echoed with melodious tunes of inspirational songs. The competitors came out with a variety of songs which pulled the heartstrings of the audience. All the young maestros sang to their level best and made the competition a great success. Great support was rendered by the audience and most of the songs received applause for the mellifluous compositions and music. The untiring efforts of participants were a treat to watch.

The judges, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur & Mrs. Sargam, professors from Arya College (Dept. of Music) thoroughly enjoyed the mellifluous sufi songs. They were impressed with the confidence, the tonal quality and the fervour with which they sang the inspirational songs. The Jury shared their views about the competition and gave fair judgement which was accepted by one and all without any discrepancies.

The Principal, Dr. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara wished good luck to all the school teams who participated in the competition with their immense interest and zeal. In her appreciation address to the school teams, she mentioned that Music as the universal art, plays an important part in developing life skills and such performances add to their confidence and respect towards their learning. She further thanked all the dignitaries for gracing the occasion and appreciated all the students and teachers for their active participation.

The Chairman of the school, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra addressed the august gathering and said that the performance of all the school teams has been overwhelming and congratulated all on being the part of this mega event. He announced the result of the competition & motivated the students with his encouraging words and bestowed his blessings upon them. He said that such events continuously provide a platform for aspiring singers to perform in front of the audience and enhance their singing skills.

Winner Trophy was grabbed by Arshjot Singh Dhillon students of class XI from GRD Academy Ldh.
First Runner-up Trophy was clinched by Yuvraj Babbar of class IX student of Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School, Jalandhar Bye Pass
Second Runner-up Trophy was secured by two participants, they are Tashmeen Kaur from KVM, Civil Lines & Inderpal Singh from Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town
Appreciation Award was given to Mehak Nagpal from Green Land Convent School. 32 Sec. Chd. Road, Ldh.

All the luminaries heartily congratulated the winners and the participants. The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to all the winners. On the whole, the competition was a great success where the talented singers enthralled the audience and put their heart and soul in each stupendous performance. The motive behind the Sahodaya Competition was successfully achieved and all the winners were in jubilant mood. The musical day concluded by national anthem.
