RYAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, DUGRI LSSC INTER SCHOOL CHESS TOURNAMENT 2019

"Chess is the gymnasium of the mind."

Often known as a game for the intellectually gifted, chess is one of the best sports to exercise the brain. The game is still widely played around the world today among participants of all ages, from the young to the elderly. The game of chess might not help you build your biceps or tone your abs, but your lifelong mental health can certainly benefit from it.

To motivate and inspire the budding Chess players, Ryan International School, Dugri organised the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex Inter-School Chess Tournament 2019 in the school premises with great zeal and fervour. Sixteen member schools of LSSC participated in the tournament. The tournament was presided over by S. Daljit Singh, National Chess Player and Coach.

The tournament was held for the students of age groups under-8, under-10, under-12 and under-14 with each team comprising of two members.

It was a neck to neck competition where participating teams gave their best to compete for the top slots. The winners were awarded with merit certificates and medals. All the students were awarded with participation certificates.

The overall winner Trophy of the tournament was bagged by Greenland Dugri with 2 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals, Ryan Jamalpur secured the first runners up trophy with 1 Gold medals,3 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals and the second runners up position was bagged by Ryan Dugri with 2 Gold and 2 Silver Medals.

The Chief Guest along with the headmistress of the school, Ms. Shilpi Gurtu honoured the students with certificates and medals and motivated them to continue their spirit to win. She exhorted them to further work hard and bring laurels for their institutions.
