Sahodaya Inter-school Poetry Competition

The Lakewood School organised an exciting event of Sahodaya Inter-School Poetry recitation Competition on Wednesday, 24th July 2024. The prestigious event aimed to nurture creativity and celebrate the poetic prowess of young minds across the schools of Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex (Central).

Budding poets from various schools showcased their talent and shared their unique perspectives through the art of poetry. Participants, ranging from age 5 to 10, competed under different themes, including nature, parents, dreams, courage, perseverance and hope, offering a diverse and enriching experience for both participants and spectators alike. Dr. Narotam Singh and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur (Chairpersons), Mr. Anmol Singh (Managing Director) graced the occasion with their presence and appreciated the talent of the young enthusiasts. Dr. Ritu Bhanot, director principal of The Lakewood School, expressed her hope to encourage a deeper engagement with values of life among the young poets, through the themes of the competition.

The competition was judged by a distinguished panel of literary experts and educators, ensuring fairness and expertise in evaluating the performances. Revered judges in the panel were Dr. Lovleen Bains, Professor of English at Guru Nanak National College, Doraha; Ms. Shivani Arora, Assistant Professor of English at Govt College for Girls, Ludhiana; and Ms. Kavita Kuplish, Assistant Professor of English at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Model Town, Ludhiana. Aelina of Grade 1 from Greenland Convent, Civil Lines proclaimed the first position under Category 1; Yashita Sharma of Grade 3 from Greenland Sen. Sec. School, Jalandhar Bypass grabbed the first position under Category 2; and Jaivardhan Mahajan of Grade 5 from Greenland Convent School, Chandigarh Road stole the show under Category 3. In the cut throat competition, with nearly 130 participants, Greenland Convent School, Chandigarh road, achieved an astonishing victory.

The day concluded on a happy note for all the participating teams and the host school.
