Report of LSSC (Central Zone) Group Song Competition

Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (Central Zone) Group Song Competition was organized at Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, Ludhiana in Sh. Ram Labhaya Rudhra Auditorium at Green Land Sen. Sec. Public School, Jalandhar Bye-Pass. Dr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman cum Director of Chain of Green Land Schools graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of this competition. Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of the Trust, Mrs. Usha Rudhra, General Secretary of the Trust and Dr. Vijayata, Director of Green Land Schools, Ms. Baldeep Pandher-Principal Green Land Sen. Sec. Public School, Jalandhar Bye-Pass were the guests of honour. They were given a warm floral welcome by the school Principal Dr. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara. The competition commenced with the auspicious lighting of the sacred lamp followed by invoking on spiritual divine with the holy collection of ‘Vandana’.

The competition witnessed an extensive array of participation from 10 teams of various schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). A healthy competition based on inspirational songs was witnessed with full participation. Each team comprising of six to eight participants expressed their mastery over Tone & Pitch, Sense of Rhythm & Enunciation, Creativity, Cohesiveness, Costume & Make-Up and other important aspects of singing. The untiring efforts of children were a treat to watch.

The whole atmosphere echoed with melodious tunes of inspirational songs. The competitors came out with a variety of songs which pulled the heartstrings of the audience. All the young maestros sang to their level best and made the competition a great success. Great support was rendered by the audience and the songs Bandh Lo Bikhre Suron Ko, Zamin Salam Kare, Tum Samay Ki Ret Par, Ab Jag Utho Kamar Kaso, Ayo Hum Sab Hath Milayen, Suraj Badle Chanda Badle, Sabse Uncha Vijay Pataka etc. received applause for the mellifluous compositions and music.

The judges, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur from Arya College (Dept. of Music) and Mr. Neeraj thoroughly enjoyed the mellifluous group songs. They were impressed with the confidence, the tonal quality and the fervour with which they sang the inspirational songs. The Jury shared their views about the competition and gave fair judgement which was accepted by one and all without any discrepancies.

The Principal, Dr. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara welcomed all the school teams who participated in the competition with their immense interest and zeal. In her appreciation address to the school teams, she mentioned that Music as the universal art, plays an important part in developing life skills and such performances add to their confidence and respect towards their learning. She further thanked all the dignitaries for gracing the occasion and appreciated all the students and teachers for their active participation.

The Chairman of chain of Green Land Schools, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra addressed the august gathering and appreciated all the teams for their melodious singing. He said that Music is food for soul. He told that even when there was no life on the earth, music was heard. He corelated it with nature and said that music is voice of nature. In all eras music and instruments were part and parcel of all lords. When Lord Brahma appeared, His Son sage Naradmuni and Maa Saraswati had veena with them. In Tretayug, to please lord Shiva, even Ravana used to play veena. In Dwaparyug, lord Krishna played flute and in Kalyug Guru Nanak gave us Gurubani and his devotees Bala and Mardna use Rabab in delivering musical sermons. So he ended with the message that God resides in music.

He announced the result of the competition & motivated the students with his encouraging words and bestowed his blessings upon them. He said that such events continuously provide a platform for aspiring singers to perform in front of the audience and enhance their singing skills.

Winner Trophy was grabbed by Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School, Jalandhar Bye pass, First Runner-up Trophy was clinched by Green Land Convent School, Dugri , Second Runner-up Trophy was bagged by Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town and Appreciation Award was given to Green Land Convent School, Civil City.

All the luminaries heartily congratulated the winners and the participants. The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to all the winners. The program ended with the singing of National Anthem.

On the whole, the motive behind the Sahodaya Competition was successfully achieved and all the winners were in jubilant mood.
