RYAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, DUGRI - SAHODAYA INTER SCHOOL CHESS TOURNAMENT

“Every chess master was once a beginner”

A game of chess helps unleash your originality, since it activates the right side of the brain, the side responsible for creativity. It increases problem-solving skills. A chess match requires fast thinking and problem-solving on the fly because your opponent is constantly changing the parameters.

To motivate and inspire the budding Chess players, Ryan International School, Dugri organised the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (Central Zone) Inter-School Chess Tournament 2018 in the school premises with great enthusiasm. Thirteen member schools of the central zone of LSSC participated in the tournament. The tournament was presided over by Mr. Ram Prakash (International Rated Chess Player) and Mr. Surinder Marwaha (International Rated Chess Player). The tournament was held for the students of age groups under-8, under-10, under-12 and under-14 with each team comprising of two members.

It was a neck to neck competition where participating teams gave their best to compete for the top slots. The winners were awarded with merit certificates and medals. All the students were awarded with participation certificates.

The overall winner’s Trophy of the tournament was bagged by Greenland Convent School Dugri with 4 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal, Ryan Jamalpur secured the first runners up trophy with 2 Gold medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal and the second runners up position was bagged by Ryan Dugri with 1 Gold and 2 Bronze Medals.

The Chief Guest along with the headmistress of the school, Ms. Shilpi Gurtu honoured the students with certificates and medals and motivated them to continue their spirit to win. She exhorted them to further work hard and brings laurels for their institutions.

Member Schools
